How To Play:
Hosting a Website
On your this website you can post your horses' profiles, pictures of your stables, blogs, events, and, of course, the all-important foal crops.
First things first, you need to pick a host for your website. There are many options out there, but for simple easy free site creating, weebly, is the best one to go for. It doesn't matter what site you pick; pick something you are familiar with and go from there.
There is no right or wrong way to design your website, but there are some general guidelines you should probably adhere to. After all, you want people to enjoy visiting your site, so make the experience as good for them as you can.
Key Factors for design: You may or may not follow the suggestions below but they are here as help:
> The color scheme
> Neutral colors for both font and background: blacks, whites, and their derivatives
> A sidebar or topbar with your main links on it .e.g : About, Staff, Gallery, Horse profiles
> Easy navigation through pages
> Clear and Clean fonts
Remember this website is going to be the bane of you equestrian center. This place will host pretty much everything you want to roleplay or show off in the Genus - Equus world. You do not have to create a website its not mandatory but its fun to do so. You may keep things simple and role-play on our forum or even just use your own page over here to keep a track of your equestrian center. Websites are normally consisting of Information, forms, sales and galleries to everyone so be careful what goes on them you never know what could happen.
Virtual Banking System
The Banking system can be found on the bottom left hand side of the page, it should be a gray tab with a money bag symbol please go here to either exchange, send, deposit any money.
The Virtual Banking System is a fun way to have more realism into the basis or role-playing here you may exchange money between members for various reasons, weather its for buying and selling of equine or sending money for shows, or even using services hosted by members. Once you have registered with us you get starting money of $25,000.
*We highly advise in investing in Genus-Equus coins. They cost 1,000 per coin, they are our form of currency since the monetary system sometimes randomly becomes corrupted.*
Loans are also another added bonus. If you are short on money our loans adviser and bank manager can set you up with a loan system in which you pay back on a long or short term basis for either one (1) real life week or one (1) real life month. The loan system will only be granted to members that have valid reason. Either you want to enter shows, by a horse or pay for a service. Please do note loans can take up to 24hrs to approve before you get them since its a very delicate task that is not handled lightly.
You can also earn more money by posting new threads, commenting on posts and creating polls!
How to Role-Play with Genus-Equus
Here you can learn how most of it works. You can create horses to their realistic breed standard. Fantasy horses such as unicorns or unrealistic horses will not be accepted. Horse in the real world all have breed standards in which people do need to follow in order to register them, so take it upon yourself to get into the knowledge base of what you are going to be using. You may create as many horses are you want but for realism purpose we do suggest you start off with atleast 4 horses, that's 2 mares and 2 stallions, this is so that when you breed them after or before they retire you will extend their bloodline by one generation. This helps to get you out of foundations and into a neat bloodline of any particular breed of choosing.
When selling and buying horses you will see a simple system and basic rules that are implied by members to suit their own centers.
Only one copy of the foal/horse will be sent and must not be put up for mass download. Then the foal/horse must be removed from the sellers game. (backup files may be kept).
You must not change the the foal/horse in anyway what so ever. Only mane and tail STYLES may be changed.
IF foals do not turn out realistic then please edit them for realism, on the forum we have a great guide for this.
Just remember to choose your foal/horses new owner wisely since they will be keeping them, if there are any issues concerning a sale or purchase of any equine please contact a member of staff. If you have sold an equine and money is not sent and the horse is gone please ensure you get payment before sending your beloved, this helps keep your mind at ease that they where well payed for.
Stable Partnerships may also occur this is entirely up to you on how you run a Stable partnership. You can make the rules and you can partner or affiliate with whoever you want, IF they agree to either partnership with you or affiliate with you.
You may also board, lease any horse/s or any equine/s at various stables that offer the service, again the rules are entirely up to you so long they do not offend or become not so appealing to other members (E.G Once your horse boards with us it may not return to you at all) things like this will not be good on us or to you as a boarding service.
We run an age system that is very basic for everyone to follow (although its not mandatory and you may or may not follow) 1 real time month equals to 1 year. This system gives it as bit more realism and you can get your horses up and running in no time. Breeding horses can be fun but if you follow our aging system then your mare may only give birth to one foal per month from the age of 4.. Stallions can sire as many times as the breeders want but they must be 3 years or above to start breeding. So that is 3 real time months until your stallion can breed from when he is born, that's also 4 real time months the mare can breed from when she is born. Mares may not be able to compete for atleast 2 weeks or a month after they have foaled.

Managing your stable in game
This guid is going to give you tips on keeping the household calm, cool and under control.
To issue the following you will need Nraas Master controller and Nraas cheats, then Nraas portrait panel, all of this can be found if you google, Nraas.
firstly, try and limit the amount of horses you have in the household. Many players have taken to using different households; a main farm, breeding, training, and a spare if you breed one too many foals! it is a useful tip which i use myself. And you will find that you will feel a little more organized.
Secondly, I prefer to have my sim/pet autonomy to LOW. Not only does this boost your games performance, but you wont have random horses or sims running into your amazing shot, or getting lost halfway across your world! a VERY useful mod, is a "no auto-leave stalls" mod that can be found nonasims.wordpress.com/tag/no-autonomous-exit-box-stall/ . This way you can put horses away for the night without them running off at their own will!
A really important tip, one that is SURE to keep the social worker at bay, is using the testingcheatsenabled true cheat. type it into the blue cheats bar, and CTRL + SHIFT click the MAILBOX. a selection of option will expose themselves, but click "make all happy". then, wait a second, and CTRL + SHIFT click the MAILBOX AGAIN. This time, choose "make needs static". What you are effectively doing, is freezing the decay of needs for ALL members of the household. No bad tempered sims and pesky social workers.
Discipline Levels
Okay so we take into account that all breeds big or small may enter in the most competitive sports, we also do consider that some breeds like the Shetland cannot compete against a shire / Warmblood. However Shetlands and many others can compete against their own breeds or any breed that fits into their area, for example if you have a Dutch Warmblood they may compete in championship dressage against a shire. We do not discriminate breeds against levels. If you have schooled your e.g Shetland with a child rider then you may enter in junior championships, in cases where a small adult can ride that small of a breed without putting pain or pressure on the Shetland then you will be able to compete at international levels, but only against other capable small breeds.
How do I advance in a level?
Well first off you must always go into schooling shows to get your equine in practice with the show ring, you may also enter in novice shows and as the equine ages and shows more the higher the levels may go.
Where do I find out what level my horse is in?
Discipline Societies should host either a spreadsheet showing your registered horse/pony and you will see what level they are currently at, once you horse/pony earns enough points or has got a decent show history and is of the right age you may see on the spreadsheets your horse/pony/s level grow.
Will you level cap a breed overall?
No, again we do not discriminate against breeds, if your equine can show it can show, if it can do it in real life it can do it on here!
What does a Breed Society do?
They can create a more accurate breed standard.
They can host shows for their own breed.
They can add points, lifetime titles and awards.
They can register members and their horses that fit into that breed society.
They can hold records and databases which may include show records, stud books, progenies, etc...
They can announce horse of the year or month on their own society, not announce it as an overall horse of year or month like GE.
They may only host one breed society show a month that includes points (this is so that breed doesn't advance on genus-equus quicker than others)
However they can host unlimited schooling shows that do not give points but instead cash prizes.
They keep a large database of every equine that falls in to their society.
They Also hold the official breed standard for their breeds to follow.
They may hold basic restrictions in what the breeds have and don't.
The handling and running of a discipline society is very similar to that or a breed society. However its much more demanding. You will need to create applications for other members to fillout in order to be registered and approved to be in your Discipline Society. Once they are approved this allows them to forward in that discipline, they can then enter Discipline hosted shows which you as a Discipline Society President will need to host if not you will need to advertise that you are hiring staff in order to be part of your society to work alongside you to make things easier and smoother. You will be responsible of show hosting, lifetime titles, points, horse registration and more... So you may need to get on hiring as soon as you have decided what you will be doing.
Discipline Societies may only be run by people who have a firm knowledge base about that discipline, you must be formal, you must make sure you are very aware and capable of running a Discipline Society. You cannot apply IF you have no knowledge about the chosen Discipline.
Below is a list of open Disciplines, please choose carefully. And PM either a Mod or Admin about your choice so we can validate it.

Breed Societies are made by members of the forum, they can create their own database and studbook and even host breed dedicated shows. In order to run a breed society you must be knowledgeable about the breed. You must also submit real life information about the breed, you must validate on what your society does. You as Breed society may include other members as staff in order to help you run the society. You can submit your own applications in order to get other members horses registered with your breed society. You may hold records, lifetime titles, points and have a breed standard that fits with the Real life breed standard of that horse breed. You may also create your own website which you must maintain for your society.
Breed Societies can be easily run per breed. We have the following list of equine breeds that are available for you to start a breed society on. Once you have chosen a breed please PM a moderator or Admin in order to let us know that you have decided to do this breed. This way we can add your name to the list.
Please be warned any unrealistic of effortless or inactive breed societies will be closed and you will not be able to open one again. If you do however go suddenly inactive when you do return please PM a mod or Admin explaining the inactivity. We do not need to know what exactly happened, a firm brief reason e.g "family problems" or "School work" is more than enough for us to accept.
General Sale Policy
Everyone has one, these are basic rules on selling, auctions of all equines that are registered or come in contact with Genus-Equus.
Please note these are all happily provided by sapphire, since she has kindly decided to share her own personal rules & regulations that can/may be used by members without credit or permission.
Failure to comply:
If you fail to comply and/or have broken more than 3 rules on our website a reclaim case will be open and you will be notified through a PM ensuring that the horse/s status will be dealt with to continue in following the rules and regulations. If further action is taken and you do not continue to follow the rules after the first warning you will have another reclaim notice at this point the horse will be reclaimed without notification unless stated otherwise.
There will be an archive here on the forum that will be created by a member of staff, which will contain the rules and reg's of your own stable. This is to ensure the safety of others who have read your current rules and have complied with them, If you want to change the rules just please PM a member of staff or Admin in order to have them changed. Reasons for the rules & regulations Archive is to ensure when a member sells a horse they have up to date rules, and to ensure the safety of the reclaims notice, so there is evidence that the rules where made on a specified date and kept there.
What does the Regulations Archive do?
The regulations archive keeps an up to date log of each individual stables rules and reg's. To ensure that no false accusations are made from either buyer or seller.
What happens once a sale is over and I want to change my rules?
Pm a member of staff or admin to ask for a change to be made and they will change the original post and include a log of changes, that are also dated.
When is a reclaim notice invalid?
If you change your rules and reg's after a sale has been made, you must apply the correct version of the rules and reg's to the horse in question.
At no point are older/newer rules and reg's to be used when reclaiming a horse.
e.g. a horse sold on the date of 11/11/14 must use the rules that were active at that date.
The Archive will help members to see what version of the rules were used during the sale.
How do I reclaim a horse?
To make a valid reclaim on any equine/s its very simple, first you need valid evidence that the member/s is not following the rules that the equine/s was sold on. e.g. horse sold 11/11/14 (check archive for the rules and reg's of the 11/11/14) Then once evidence is gathered you may fill out a template provided by Sapphire to ensure a formal reclaim notice is issued.
Any members that issue rude, hateful or inappropriate reclaim notices to any member will not have support their case.
The template below is to help you formally issue a reclaim, members how issue reclaim notice's may issue up to 3 warnings if the horse is not reclaimed and the rules are still not met then further action must be taken into a compromise with the member e.g. You may keep the horse for a further week so long you start to follow these rules and reg's (links to rules in archive)
You may use this template to construct a formal warning / letter to whom it may concern, do not publicly post these issues on our forum since this is very unfair to single out a member in front of everyone and can lead to you as a member getting a suspension or ban. Keep all reclaim notice's / warnings or letters confidential via a PM to Whom it may concern.
Equine Traits
Left-brained horse behaviors:
dominant
brave
confident
calm
tolerant
Right-brained horse behaviors:
submissive
fearful
not confident
nervous
reactive
Introverted horse behaviors:
low energy
more “whoa” (a lack of forward momentum)
slow reactions
stops often
Extroverted horse behaviors:
high energy
more “go” (lots of forward momentum)
quick reactions
runs often
Bucks
Traits in horses must be either from their dam and sire or for foundation horses must be even, e.g you cant have all good traits and no bad ones. However if your horse has all good traits they must contain one vice. You may pick and choose whichever traits you desire, but remember the rules on on picking all the good traits for one horse. To determine what traits the foal will have you must do it to realism as in the mare will be the dominant one for coat, traits and conformation. You must randomly generate up to 4 from the mare and 2 from the sire.
If your equine has a bad trait or vice, through training the equine you will be able to lose that vice or trait and have it replaced but a new one, so remember even if you pick a bad trait, it can soon be taught out of it. Although in training trait may also effect how the training goes be sure to check with the training information to check which will conflict with which.
There are a maximum of 6 traits per horse.
Vices
Wood chewing
Wood chewing is a common behavior in horses. Chewing the wood on stalls or fence posts can be frustrating for the horse owner and may cause further problems if the horse swallows splinters or wears their teeth down in the process. Horses who spend abnormal amounts of time chewing wood may be suffering from an unbalanced diet, specifically inadequate forage intake. Increasing the amount of long-stemmed forage (hay or pasture) available, reducing the amount of grain in the diet, offering multiple types of forage (such as adding hay cubes), and feeding more, small meals per day are possible solutions for a horse that chews wood. If a horse will not stop chewing wood, try covering the surface with a material that will not splinter or wear the teeth down (i.e. rubber).
Head shaking
Headshaking is when the horse repetitively shakes its head for no obvious reason. There are many potential causes for headshaking, such as nerve pain, ear mites, dental problems, allergies, or disease. One change that may reduce headshaking is to keep the horse away from flies and out of the sun (another common trigger). There are commercially available nose nets for reducing headshaking while riding. These are thought to be helpful in alleviating nerve pain, and have been proven to reduce the incidence of headshaking.
Rearing
Rearing is a normal play behavior in a herd, but can be quite dangerous when done in the presence of a human. Rearing is often triggered by something specific, such as rein pressure or not wanting to go near a frightening object. If a horse rears, identify the trigger and find a way to work around it safely. A calm and quiet approach is ideal because rearing is generally caused by fear or pain. Responding with negative reinforcement could make the behavior worse. Training the horse to go forward on cue is important in reducing the re occurrence of rearing.
Bucking
Bucking is a normal behavior for horses in a herd. It is used to establish a pecking order. When being ridden, horses may buck because of discomfort in their back from poor saddle fit, an unbalanced rider, or frustration from not being able to move where they want to go. If you have a horse that bucks, make sure that it is not from physical discomfort before assuming it is a behavioral issue. Work with a reputable saddle fitter to help rule out poor saddle fit and a veterinarian to rule out injury.
Separation anxiety
Separation anxiety is when a horse gets stressed (nervous) when separated from other horses. e horse might neigh or scream, and be difficult to handle. When dealing with a horse with separation anxiety, try separating the horse gradually. For example, lead the horse around the pasture before leading them out of the pasture, or take the horse away and bring it back to the pasture repetitively. If you notice a loss of weight in the horse, call your veterinarian.
Weaving
Weaving is a side to side movement of the horse's head and neck which is sometimes accompanied by a lifting and lowering of the feet. Weaving is often caused by the stress of being separated from the herd or being confined to a stall. To reduce the amount of time that a horse spends weaving, increase the time spent out of the stall (i.e. in a paddock or pasture) and allow the horse to see neighboring horses when in the stall. If the horse must be confined to the stall, research has shown that installing a mirror (the mirror must be nonbreakable) will reduce the time spent weaving.
Cribbing and windsucking
Cribbing is a repetitive behavior where the horse places its upper incisors against a horizontal surface, arches its neck, and pulls backwards with its body while making a grunting sound. Windsucking is similar to cribbing, but is done without the horse grasping an object with its teeth. Cribbing horses sometimes have lower gastric pH than normal horses, produce less saliva, have slower pro-cecal transit times and have a greater incidence of stomach ulcers than non-cribbing horses. There is a strong correlation between diet and cribbing (and windsucking). Increasing the amount of long-stemmed forage (hay or pasture) available, reducing the amount of grain in the diet, offering multiple types of forage (such as adding hay cubes), and increasing the number of meals per day are possible solutions for a horse that cribs.
Commercially available crib collars may reduce the frequency of cribbing, but are not intended to solve the cause of cribbing. e use of crib collars may cause an elevation in stress hormones when compared to the stress hormones in a horse that is allowed to crib.
Tail Rubbing
Rhythmically swaying the rear against a fence or stall wall.
Pawing
Digs holes; tips over feeders & waterers; gets leg caught in fence; wears hooves away, loses shoes; most often young horses.
Nodding
A repetitive up and down nodding movement of the head
Box walking,
Circular route tracing within the stable
Vices are not so nice behaviors horses have, although not all horses have vices. Vices although can be good to some, it has been known that cribbing changes behaviors in horses that makes them better in the show ring.
Thank-you for reading.

Understanding a Breed Society
Discipline Societies

About Breed Societies
