What is your views on custom breeds? As in, breeds made by people that are fictional and doesn't exist in real life. Are they cliché, a waste of time, fun, creative or annoying? I'm of the view that if the breed in question only has a name, no backstory and no set guidelines as a real life breed would have... it's a waste to make it. I've even seen some create a breed and not even name it! At the very least you should decide the common/uncommon coat colours, what discipline it's most suitable for and it's name. As a creative outlet it's great if you want to write long and informative text, especially if you put it into practise and actually compete/breed/use horses of that breed in the future. Too often I see interesting breeds stop being used and it's a shame because had it grown more into itself and become more popular, I might've wanted to have one! If it's just you being bored and throwing something together without rhyme or reason, it's cliché, annoying and while creative... not really creative xD Your thoughts?

I personally love the thought of custom breeds, but I do not think people should make multiple breeds if they can't handle all of them, or that they aren't going to actually continue breeding them, or making them. I am actually in the process of making my own breed, the Mayumi Warmblood. I do plan to continue breeding them and creating them as long as people are interested in them, I personally love them! I made them because I wanted a breed that had everything I love in a horse, long manes and tails, blue eyes, painted coats, a sporty-ish body build, but not too sporty. So I basically made my dream horse into a realistic fictional breed

Personally, I like custom breeds if there's a background story and info about it not just some breed mix together and throwed on a post to show off and in the end it disappear in no time :/
Beside the Friesian horse, from The Mystical Spring Stables, I also have Limartio (a custom breed created by Liz Holthuis) I really like the Baroque type !! <3
And (ok I should really stop lol I already have too much horses xD) I'm also working on a custom breed, but it's more for my new story and for fun, not for sell or compete :)

I love your thoughts on it and I agree with them If I ever made a custom breed it'd be as part of my roleplay and would probably take at least half a year until I was satisfied enough to call it an actual breed. I'm talking a fullblown breeding program using select breeds.. sort of like how most horse breeds actually came about haha!

I love the idea of custom breeds. I think they do wonders to inspire other players and to stimulate people's creativity. I come from the HARPG on dA, and some of the breeds over there were so thought out and well made. It was really, really cool to see. However, when that translates to the Sims it can be a lot more complicated, especially since it seems players are far more interested in popular breeds, or just whatever is more likely to win in the show ring. ShadyHollowStables I'd love to see your breed grow and become something =) If you have a page on your website going over all the particular details I'd love to see it. As far as personally, I probably wouldn't add a custom breed to my stable unless it was clear to me that their creator had put a lot of thought and effort into them and were willing to put in the mileage to see them succeed in the community as a whole.
